Ms. Marianne Cates, Principal

Ms. Cates came to Holy Rosary as principal in 2007. She has been with the Diocese of Sacramento for 30 years and taught 1st, 2nd, and 6th grades before coming to Holy Rosary. She has two sons (20 & 22) and a daughter-in-law. She also has two dogs, Chip and Ruff. In her free times she loves to read and explore on the computer. She hates to waste time or be bored.

Mrs. Papas is the heart and soul of Holy Rosary School. She has been active at this school for many years.

Mr. Andrew Lerner,
Art Instructor

Andrew Lerner graduated from US Davis in 2009 with a BA in Fine Arts.  His passion in life is art, and he’s happiest when there’s a brush in his hand (or pencil, or a pen, or a chisel, etc.)  To be able to share his love for all things creative with the students at HRS is an absolute joy for him.  This is his first year teaching at HRS and his first year as a teacher; his prior teaching experience includes a quarter-long internship at Dingle Elementary in 2009.

     
Susanna Peeples Music
 

Ms. Susanna Peeples,
Music Instructor

Ms. Peeples has been studying music since before she was born.  In a family of musicians, Ms. Peeples was destined to continue in the field.  She has finished her coursework for a B.A. in Music Performance and a Minor in Education from UC Davis.  She lives in Davis and enjoys supporting Aggie Athletics.

Mrs. Tasha Clutts, Kindergarten Teacher

Mrs. Clutts has a B.S. in Organizational Communication from the University of Portland, a Multiple Subject teaching credential from William Jessup University and a M.A. from National University with an emphasis in Early Childhood Education. She has been at Holy Rosary since 2008. She loves kindergarten because that age group is excited about everything. She and her husband enjoy going to college football games, snowboarding, riding quads and playing wth their 3 dogs.

   
Barbara Mecchi, 1st Grade Teacher  

Ms. Barbara Mecchi, 1st Grade Teacher

Ms.Mecchi holds a California Teaching Credential and an Early Childhood Credential from Sweden. A native Sacramentan, Ms. Mecchi lived in Sweden for 15 years. She has worked for the Diocese of Sacramento for over 20 years (eighteen at Holy Rosary) teaching Kindergarten and First Grade.

   
Mrs. McEntee, 2nd Grade Teacher  

Mrs. Jennifer McEntee, 2nd Grade Teacher

Mrs. McEntee received a BA in English/Education and a MS in Education with a concentration in teaching Reading from Nazareth College in New ork State. She has a lifetime teaching credential from New York State. She trained at Santa Clara University in the Orton Gillingham aproach to teaching reading. She taught and substitute taught in New York State before moving to California. She has been teaching at Holy Rosary since 1994.

Mrs. Jenny Wienstroer, 3rd Grade Teacher

Mrs. Wienstroer earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Southern Illinois University in 1998, and holds a Master of Education with a Specialization in Elementary Education from the University of St. Francis which she earned in 2005. She has Multiple Subject teaching credentials (K-8) in Illinois and California.

Mrs. Wienstroer worked as a Special Education Teaching Assistant in a self-contained 5th grade classroom at Troy Heritage Trail Elementary School in Shorewood, IL 2004-2005; taught 5th grade at St. Charles Borromeo, NCLB Blue Ribbon School, St. Charles, MO 2005-2006; Title 1 tutor, grades 3-6, for The Learning Advantage (contracted by WJUSD) 2006-2007; 3rd grade teacher at Holy Rosary School 2007-present.

Mrs. Trudy Connolly, 4th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Connolly graduated with high honors from the University of California with a B.S. in Applied Behavioral Sciences with an emphasis in counseling. She passed the CBEST and team taught at Holy Rosary in 6th grade from January 2004- June 2005. Since August 2006 she has taught 4th grade at Holy Rosary. Currently Mrs. Connolly is completing work for a California Multiple Subject credential through the CalTeach program.

Mrs. Maryellen Bauer, 5th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Bauer has a B.A. from U.C., Davis in Political Science, a Certificate in Technology in Education from U.C. Santa Cruz Extention, and a M.A. in Instructional Technology from San Jose State University. She holds a clear California Multiple Subject credential with a supplementary authorization in Computer Concepts and Applications as well as a Bilingual Crosscultural Language and Academic Development Certificate (Spanish). Before coming to Holy Rosary she taught many years in the public school system.

Melissa Deis
 

Ms. Melissa Deis 5th Grade Teacher

I am a California native who grew up in the Sacramento area.  I received my Bachelors and Teaching credential through CSU-Sacto.  I have over 12 years teaching experience in both public and Catholic School systems.  I have two children.  My daughter, Melodie is a senior in College, and my son David is a sophomore at Jesuit.

Mrs. Wathen received a B.A. in Criminal Justice from Sonoma State University. She has a M.A. in Education and holds a California Multiple Subject Credential from the University of Phoenix. She has been at Holy Rosary School since 2006.

Mrs. Anne Diaz, 7th Grade Teacher

Mrs. Diaz holds an A.S. in Respiratory Therapy, from Labour Jr. College, Boston, Massachusettes and a B.A. in English Literature from St. Edward's University, Austin, Texas. She has been teaching 7th grade at Holy Rosary since 2002. She served as a substitute teacher at Holy Rosary 2000-2002.

Mr. Bob Heberle, 8th Grade Teacher

Mr. Heberle earned his teaching credential at Chico State , and has taught junior high students in the Catholic School system for 31 years. He has been at Holy Rosary since 1990. He has mainly taught Math, Science and Religion although through the years he has taught Social Studies, LIterature and Grammar. Mr. Heberle enjoys coaching track and basketball.

Mrs. Sierra has a Masters degree in Spanish and has lived in Spain. She has also worked in the computer industry.

Coach Frank Mooney, PE  

Coach Frank Mooney, Athletic Director

Coach Mooney has a B.A. from Sacramento State University with a P.E. Major and a Minor in History. He has a M.A. from U.S.F. in Educational Administration. He has 52 years of teaching and coaching experience. He taught 4 years at the secondary level. He has served as chairman of the P.E. department at Jesuit High School where he designed the P.E. curriculum. He graduated from Christian Brothers High School in 1955.

Liz Brady, Physical Education

Mrs. Brady earned her B.A. in Child Development at California State UniversitySacramento.  She received her Multi-Subject Clear Teaching Credential (K-9) from National University in 1992.  She worked at both and private and public elementary schools before taking time off to have her twin daughters who now attend Holy Rosary School.  She returned to teaching in 2002 at Holy Rosary School as a substitute teacher and Volleyball Coach.  This is her first year as a P.E. Teacher.  She and her husband, son and daughters enjoy attending different sporting events and outings as a family.

     
Ms. Pusich  

Ms. Belvedere Pusich, Resource

Ms. Pusich is a product of Catholic Education and has taught over 50 years in Catholic Schools in California, Nevada and Florida. After attending elementary school at St. Bernard's in Oakland, Ms. Pusich attended Holy Rosary Academy for 9-12 grades. She has a B.A. in Elementary Education and Religious Studies from St. Mary's Nortre Dame, Indiana and Portland University. She has also been active in RCIA. Her greatest pleasure is learning about the achievements of her many former students.

     
Cathey Wragg  

Ms. Cathey Wragg,
Director of the Extended Day Program

 

Ms. Wragg received her teaching credential from Chico State in 1984 and has spent the past 25 years in education. She was hired at Holy Rosary to assist in the extended day program in 2002. Before that she served in various positions at Holy Rosary including substitute teacher and teacher's aide.
