Philosophy:

Young children need to be in an environment where they feel loved, welcome, and respected. When they have all these things, the foundation is set for the young child to learn and grow.

A safe and predictable environment with age-appropriate materials and activities are essential. Children learn best through play and hands-on activities.

Children should be encouraged to do as much for themselves as possible, but should also be encouraged to ask for help when frustrated. In disciplining the young child, it's best to anticipate problems; if this cannot be done, positive re-direction should be used as much as possible.

We need to remember that all young children are unique; they bring with them different needs and gifts. They all develop academic and social skills at their own pace. Each child needs to be respected for their differences and taught that they are all special in the eyes of God and of all those around them.

The Purpose of our Program:

  1. To provide a wide range of experiences for your child through a balance of play and hands-on learning materials, including dramatic play, science, fine and gross motor skills, math, art, music, number and letter concepts, cooking, and more.
  2. To promote social skills through teaching communication, listening skills, values, and responsibility.
  3. To encourage self-esteem and a sense of competence by treating each child with respect and dignity.
  4. To foster independence by allowing your child to make choices when appropriate. and to encourage them to help others as well as him/herself.
  5. To insure a smooth transition from Preschool to Kindergarten. The Preschool staff work with the Holy Rosary Kindergarten teacher to develop an appropriate readiness program.
